Kayleigh Pearce: Chair - Board of Directors
Well it all started back in 2008 when I and Let Live Travel’s Founder, Shawna, strapped on giant backpacks and headed to Thailand for what I can only describe as a journey of a life time. From the moment I walked out of the airport, I was in love; the people, culture and energy, it was AMAZING! While there, we had the opportunity to visit a local orphanage. I had expected to leave the orphanage depressed; I expected to see children who would never know the joys of just being a kid. Oh how wrong I was! The kids were so excited and happy to have foreign visitors, and I ended up leaving with the warmest feeling in my heart and a smile on my face. We were only there for a few short hours, but it was the most life changing few hours.
After leaving Thailand, I don’t think I ever came down from that natural high and feeling of pure bliss travelling gives you. Over the next several years, while completing my Business Degree, I was constantly planning my next adventure: Europe, South East Asia, Brazil, Eastern Africa. During that time my greatest accomplishment was hiking Mount Kilimanjaro to raise money for the East African Famine. Throughout all of these experiences, that afternoon spent at a local orphanage was engraved in my memory, which is why today I am involved with Let Live Travel!
I plan to get my Master in International Development and contribute more to the success of Let Live. I cannot imagine a better way to experience a country then to give back to the people who make their home our wonderland.
